Walrus Oil Furniture Butter is a tung oil based wood finish that is excellent for new woodworking projects and restorations. This is one of our favourite finishes at Cardinal Valley. We use it on nearly every cribbage board and furniture piece. Furniture Butter can help rejuvenate any piece of furniture with a natural, oil, or milk paint finish. It is easy to use and leaves a long-lasting professional and durable finish.
Depending on the number of coats, Furniture Butter can leave a matte to satin finish. It is a 100% plant-based finish made with food-grade ingredients.

Walrus Oil Furniture Butter is meticulously made in a proprietary 4-stage brewing process. The end result is an incredibly versatile oil and wax-based finish that penetrates wood surfaces, pulling out natural wood colours and tones, and locking them in permanently with a natural seal. The rosin and hard waxes add sheen and provides water protection after fully cured. Furniture Butter can be used as a completely standalone product. It also can be used after the Furniture Finish or before the Furniture Wax. Made with Tung Oil, Polymerizing Safflower Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Carnauba Wax, Candelilla Wax, and Pine Rosin.
Application Instructions
Apply a thin layer of oil until the entire surface is covered. Wipe away excess after 24 hrs. Repeat until the desired number of coats and look is achieved. After the final coat, allow 24 - 48 hrs for the surface to become dry to the touch. Depending on temperature and humidity, it may take up to 1 week to be completely dry to the touch and up to 4 weeks to be completely cured.
Ideally, use on hardwoods that are sanded between 220 - 400 grit. The lower the grit, the deeper the oil will soak. The higher the grit, the smoother the wood will feel. To prevent raised grain, always use the "sand, wet, sand" method.
Product Care
Store at room temperature or in a cool and dry place. Keep the bottle sealed when not in use.
